We are looking to develop an amazing team of volunteers at High Lea Hall and are looking for individuals to help catalogue and care for the current heritage collection. It is an ideal opportunity to use or develop your skills, learn about the collection and give something back to the local community, for all to enjoy. This role could be of interest to a student or anyone who is considering pursuing a career in this field.

Transferable skills you can gain from this role:
• Working with historical collections
• Develop a deep knowledge of the history of New Mills
• How to record/catalogue museum objects
• Create content for the High Lea Hall website
• Understanding how Heritage can boost well being
• Other role specific training

Potential time involvement:
High Lea Hall is open 4 days a week Thursday – Sunday from 11am until 4.30pm; Due to the nature of this role we welcome a flexible approach and are happy to discuss time commitments.

Responsible to:
New Mills Town Clerk.

Training and Support:
Full training will be given alongside ongoing support from staff and other volunteers as needed.

About us:

New Mills Town Council represents the local community and strives to improve the quality of life in the local area by representations through Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council, the Police and other community organisations.

New Mills Town Council is responsible for maintaining the children's playing field, the provision of allotments and for providing feedback on planning applications.

We are delighted to have opened High Lea Hall heritage centre and café situated in High Lea Park.

High Lea Hall is now open Thursday to Sunday, 11am 4.30pm with the café serving ice creams, coffee, tea cakes & toast.

The adjacent heritage center is wonderful to explore and features a model of our town, complete with a charming miniature train. This is the perfect setting to immerse yourself in the local history of New Mills.

This volunteer role is open to anyone over the age of 18. Whilst experience would be an advantage we welcome individuals that are friendly, reliable and approachable. Plus having a willingness to learn and is open to try new things.
